In Decemebr 2005 the Board of The National Portrait Gallery purchased
this print of Mark and Nick Seymour.
Mark and Nick Seymour are both internationally renowned musicians,
Mark as the lead singer of australian rock group Hunters and Collectors
and now as a solo recording artist and Nick Seymour was the bass player
and one of the founding members of the legendary Australian act Crowded
House.
This image was taken after a free concert held at The Rocks Market
in Sydney during Australian Music Week in 1996, the concert was to promote
Mark's first solo album King Without AClue and he was joined by his
brother during this tour.
The image was taken back stage in a quickly arranged setting I had
brough a black cloth with me to use as a backdrop and my Bronica 6 x
4.5 camera, luckily it was an overcast day so the light was nice and
soft, only 9 images were taken in this brief shoot but Ibeleive I captured
the essence of these men, these brothers.
The print is a one off print measuring 101.6cm x 76 cm (40 x 30 Inches)
and printed on Kodak metallic paper which gives the image agreat depth
and a quality of luminescence.
It is now on display as part of the permanent collection of The National
Portrait Gallery which is located in Old Parliament House, Canberra,
Australia
