The Hot Seat: John Polson

What acheivement are you most proud of?

There are a few things I am very proud of but I think Tropfest would have to be my most proud acheivement

Your claim to fame at school was?

I was the class clown and paid for this by being thrown out of school multiple times.

What makes you happy?

Relaxing, Bondi beach, working hard to achieve your goals I believe if you work hard by day you rst better at night.

What makes you angry?

My publicist (laughs). Cowardice makes me angry, not being willing to put yourself on the line. When was the last time you made a fool of yourself? The last time I was drunk, really drunk, it was months ago at a party in Melbourne.

Name your least favourite cliché and why you dislike it? "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink." I have never had a horse so I have never lead a horse to water, is it true that you can't make it drink? Maybe you can make it drink, somehow.

What was the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?

Othe than my own (swimfan) I saw Signs, I liked it a lot, It was smart and though commercial it was about something-faith.

Describe the last dream you remember having?

It was a flying dream, I have them quite often, I was flying through mountains in an area not disimilar to the North coast of NSW, It's a good feeling.

What is the biggest issue facing this country at the moment? Why is it so important?

Australia is becoming more conservative, people should be less frightened by by individuality and artistic expression we should become more liberal in regard to these areas, also immigration. I was in the states when immigration became such an issue here and though not reported as extensively there it was a time when I was not so proud to be Australian.

If you were prime minister what are the first things you would put in place to improve Australia?

I am a bit biased but I would give more support to the film industry.

Any gratuitous plugs?

Swimfan swimfan swimfan, is the new film that I have directed which is a psychological teen thriller but not dumbed down, its really fatal attraction in a high school and it is out in October.
